Add the Contact It Came From

Last updated

A Contact is the brand, rep or seller a Product comes from, and the one who pays you for the review. Give a Contact their usual Fee and Turnaround once, and Tuskl fills in every Product they send you: the Fee you agreed, and the date your video is due.

Add a Contact

  1. Open Contacts in the side menu.
  2. Click Add Contact.
  3. Type their Name. That’s the only thing you have to fill in.
  4. If you know them, add:
    • Fee: what they usually pay you per review. Tuskl uses it to fill in the Fee on their Products.
    • Turnaround (Days): how many days you usually have to deliver, counted from when the product arrives. Tuskl uses it to work out each Product’s due date.
  5. Click Create Contact.

Email, Phone, Platform, Handle and Notes are there for your own reference.

Good to know: a Fee of 0 means “this Contact doesn’t pay a fee”, which is different from leaving it blank. Blank means you haven’t set one.

  • When adding a Product: pick the Contact in the Contact field. If they’re new, click the + beside the field to create them without leaving the form.
  • On a Product you’ve already added: open the Product, click Edit on the top card (Title, Creator and Contact), and choose the Contact.
  • From the Contact’s page: click New Product on their Products tab, and the Contact is filled in for you.

When you pick a Contact, their Fee fills in the Product’s Fee. If you’ve already typed a Fee yourself, Tuskl leaves it alone.

Good to know: Self Purchased Products don’t have a Contact, because you bought them yourself.

How Your Due Date Gets Set

Your deadline starts when the product arrives, not when you add it to Tuskl. When you mark a Product Received, Tuskl adds the Contact’s Turnaround to the date it arrived and sets the due date. There’s more on that in Move a Product Forward a Step.

No Contact, or no Turnaround, means no automatic due date. You can always type one yourself in the Product’s Deadlines section, and Tuskl keeps a date you set by hand.

Changing a Contact’s Fee later only affects Products you add after that; the ones you already have keep the Fee they were given. Changing their Turnaround never moves a due date that’s already set.

Group Contacts Under a Company

If several reps work for the same agency or brand, add a Company (under Contacts in the side menu, then Companies) and pick it on each Contact. A Company can carry a default Fee and Turnaround too. A Contact who leaves theirs blank uses the Company’s, and the form says so with an Inherit from Company toggle.

See How a Contact Is Doing

Each Contact’s page shows running totals: how many Products they’ve sent, the Fees you agreed and collected, and what you got back from reselling or donating their items.
