Add Your First Product
Last updated
Every item you review lives in Tuskl as a Product. Once it’s in, Tuskl tracks it from the day it arrives to what it earned you: what’s due, what you’re owed, and what happened to the item at the end.
Add It
- Open Products in the side menu.
- Click Add Product.
- Type the Title. That’s the only thing you have to fill in.
- Click Quick Add.
That’s it. The Product is saved and the dialog closes. You can fill in the rest any time from the Product’s page.
If you’d rather add more detail straight away, click Add & Edit instead. The Product is saved and the dialog switches to its full set of sections, so you can keep going. Click Done when you’re finished.
Good to know: you can also add a Product from Add a Product on your dashboard, or from New Product on a Contact’s page, which fills in that Contact for you.
What the Other Fields Do
You don’t need any of these on day one, but each one unlocks something later.
- URL and Price: a link back to the product page, and what it sells for. Price feeds your reports and pre-fills a donation’s value.
- Assign to: which Creator’s work this is, if more than one person reviews in your account.
- Workflow: the list of Steps this Product moves through. Your default is already picked.
- Acquisition Type: how you got it.
- Free Sample: sent to you at no cost.
- Reimbursement: you bought it and the brand pays you back.
- Self Purchased: you bought it yourself, with no brand involved. These have no Contact and no Fee.
- Planned Disposition: what you think you’ll do with the item afterwards. Leave it on Decide Later if you don’t know yet.
- Contact: the brand, rep or seller it came from. See Add the Contact It Came From.
- Fee: what you’re being paid for the review, if anything. See Record the Money.
- Platform: where the review goes. It’s pre-filled for you.
- Recording Brief: the brand’s video requirements, the selling points to hit, and your own notes, all in one place for when you film.
The form changes as you choose. For example, picking Self Purchased hides the Contact and Fee, and picking Reimbursement shows Purchase Cost. Anything you’d already typed comes back if you switch again.
Where to Find It
Your new Product appears on the Products page. If you don’t see it, a filter is probably hiding it: Tuskl’s message after adding tells you so, with a link to show everything.
The Products page has three views: Planner, List and Cards. The Planner groups your Products by the Step each one is on, and it’s where you move them forward. That’s the next step.
Good to know: a blue info pill on a Product means some optional details are blank, such as the Price or the brand’s video requirements. Hover over it to see which. None of them are required.
